2017.09: Improvement of optics
05 Sep. 2017
Since our last email in June announcing the start of industrialisation, a lot has happened both internally (expansion of the team, media coverage, awards, etc.) and in terms of the product. After discussions with our suppliers, we decided to make a number of improvements to the instrument:
Choice of materials
The internal supports, previously attached to the plastic shell, have now been replaced by an aluminium structure, linking the tripod to the optics. This gives Stellina a rigidity worthy of the best commercial mounts and considerably reduces the instrument's sensitivity to wind.
Optical quality
The second important point is that a new milestone has been reached in terms of optical quality. Previously based on a simple achromatic doublet, we decided to replace it with a diffraction-limited ED doublet to improve image quality (elimination of chromatism, better image sharpness, etc.).
These choices have had an impact on the industrialisation schedule, as it involves additional quality tests. As a result, delivery of the first telescopes is expected in the first quarter of 2018.
Our commitment to quality and our mission to provide you with the best possible user experience are the reasons why we have decided to allocate additional time to these changes.
