I’ve always wanted to get a telescope and get more educated about the heavens but have, frankly, been too lazy. The Vaonis Stellina has turned out to be incredibly easy to use – and I love the fact that it works through photographs as that’s another of my passions. I use it almost every night and have got some great shots and am looking forward to getting more as the seasons progress. It’s also really cool as it scans the sky, locks onto its target and takes hundreds of exposures to create a composite image.

The Stellina makes photographing Deep Sky Objects fun! Yes – it is pretty expensive but there is literally nothing else you need to buy – and it is worth every dollar! I live in Florida, under Bortle 6 skies, and have to deal with high humidity – no problem for the Stellina with built-in dew heater. Vaonis is a really friendly company, with outstanding customer service, and their commitment to support and increase Stellina’s functionality is apparent. They are extremely helpful and are constantly making updates to the Stellinapp. The catalogue of preset DSO’s continues to increase. Furthermore, Stellina has also recently added manual entry – so input Declination/Right Ascension coordinates and you are good to go! Awesome! One of my most satisfying purchases ever!

Living in a city means light pollution, yet even with a full moon, Stellina was able to image 6 stellar object with ease, with only 1-2 minutes getting it going. This on a night when I could see only a few stars in the sky.
Stellina is the future of amateur astronomy and budding astrophotographers. I find myself using it every clear night, while my two E-q mounts and deep sky telescopes sit idle, no doubt because Stellina weighs less that 30 pounds and a fully equipped telescope set up would weigh more than 120 pounds. I can go anywhere with Stellina and image quickly ans easily.
Most important is that the images can be saved as both jpegs and fits, the jpeg also can be processed before saving in a default, dark sky, b&w, or spot format.
Stellina is well worth the money and then some. You can image nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, comets, planets, the moon, and some specialized objects as well. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent. Quick and easy to set up and pictures are good. Not the clear vibrant pictures seen with larger scopes but I am happy with the ease I am getting decent images.

This telescope is absolutely incredible! You plop it out, wifi to it with your phone and then through the app it can search any object for you. The telescope is the most user friendly and accessible telescope on the market. The app is professionally made and very intuitive. Sure, you can get a much better quality telescope for the price-point, but that’s a whole headache of parts you have to buy and an hour of setup time you have to work with. Astrophotography and amateur astronomy are not easy hobbies, but the Stellina works to change that and the face of these hobbies to not just be for professional enthusiasts, but everyone.
I hope to see improved processing in the future, and a tutorial for properly stacking the FITS files!
It’s the future of astrophotography in a world where telescopes haven’t changed much in the past thirty years.

I purchased a Stellina two weeks ago and have used it three times since receiving it.
As someone with conventional equipment ( equatorial GOTO Mount and scope, ccd cameras etc ) I have been astounded with the ease of setup, initialisation time and accuracy of the GOTO function. The images obtained are almost as good as when imaging with my conventional equipment and it’s ease of setup and use are a great encouragement to using the scope. I took a two hour exposure of the Rossette Nebula and there is no star tailing at all !
It normally takes 30 minutes to setup my conventional equipment and then quite often the clouds roll in making for a very frustration evening which discourages you from trying again on another night.

The telescope is simple, there’s no other way to describe it…A push of a button and it’s ready to go. I told it to go to the Orion Nebula, it went straight there and started taking images of it. The first few exposures were great, and after 25 minutes, even the imagers were impressed. Sure, it’s Orion, an easy target, so the next target to try was Andromeda. After 20 minutes the dust lanes started to come out, very easy and no star trails or anything. Other targets like the Dumbell nebula have been imaged with success, and the best part is it really is done at the touch of a button. Amazing for outreach and the info in the app really helps tell you what you’re looking at. Sharing the image on multiple tablets with friends and guests was really cool too…I would say the only issues I had was when there were thin clouds it had a hard time locating targets.

I have had my Stellina since a couple of weeks.
I have to say I am impressed!
It was delivered properly in a safe box that can be re-used.
The Stellina is a well built device. It has a very high standard. You can’t default it.
Also the tripod is very sturdy and stable. It’s a great combination to work with.
As soon as you have installed your Stellina (it doesn’t take long) it’s a real pleasure to watch how the Stellina positions itself and focuses on the sky. After this you can choose an object in the sky and immediately the images are live stacking in the App. During this you can still scroll back and watch how the picture gets better and better.
The quality of the final picture is impressive. Lots of details and sometimes wonderful colours.
(If needed a usb stick can be used to do manual stacking of the fits files afterwards.)
The App is a real pleasure to work with as well. It has a good description of the objets. You can also see live details of the sensors in the Stellina (like temperature, humidity,…)
The support desk is also very helpful and they respond to questions very quickly.
You won’t regret buying a Stellina.

As my kids can handle it easily, we can enjoy seeing stars together!
Even in the severely disturbance from the city lights, I am astonished to see such wonderful pictures to be taken. We are really enjoyed to see the sky in each clear night. One thing to annoying us is to reduce the time to sleep!

I own a variety of astronomical equipment, including several scopes, mounts (including equatorial) and both a dedicated digital astro camera (ATIK) and a modified Canon DSLR. With almost any combination of these items I can take superb astro photos. The price? Time, and lots of it. Oh, and patience. My new Stellina consists of the combined scope and electronics in a briefcase size package and a small, portable tripod. Set up takes only a few minutes and another five or so for the unit to use your OIS/Android phone to orient itself, take a few photos of star fields for precision location, and focus. The Stellina app will then give you a variety of objects/targets that are currently in the night sky for your location and cay and time. In the month or so that I’ve had the scope I have been delighted at its ease-of-use but more importantly, at the quality of the images. No, the scope will not duplicate the photographic results of more sophisticated (and often more expensive) equipment, but I was — and you will be — impressed with what you do achieve. The JPEGs are processed by the unit’s computer using advanced stacking and processing software but you’re also given RAW files which you can process yourself with any number of currently available astronomical software. While the scope is essentially on an altazimuth mount it contains a mechanical field rotator which keeps the scope accurately focused for extended periods of time. I recently took a 60-minute photo of the Horsehead Nebula which stayed in focus the entire time. You could not do this with most altazimuth mounts offered by Celestron or Meade. Yes, the Stellina is expensive but in my mind worth every penny. In short, for ease, simplicity of use and great images, it can’t be beat. And on a personal note, I can’t tell you how many of my neighbors have been dazzled with the beauties of the night sky taken from my driveway. Highly recommended.

As a new owner of a Stellina telescope, I am impressed with the technology at my disposal, but still have much to learn. Despite living on the edge of a light polluted city, I have been rewarded with amazing images of deep sky objects. Thank you Vaonis.

As a long time amateur astronomer and astro-photographer, I actually feel guilty using Stellina. It is so easy to use, set up, and start taking pictures.

Hi I just used my Stellina for the first time and I am very impressed. Here are all the objects I observed in just 2 hours:
I did not spend the full recommended observation time on each object but I am still happy with the results.

I must say that Stellina works so very great – it is outrageous, fantastic and far beyond my expectations. Everything is perfect, from design over the app/ software, which is very easy to use, to hardware and it´s function.

I’m very impressed by it, in fact I’m ecstatic about it.
I’m really finding renew joy in the hobby after leaving it for the last 7 years. I don’t remember the last time that I’ve gone out 3 nights to observe in a week. The ease of use and portability makes the experience more relaxing and enjoyable. This approach will bring in a whole new group of people into the hobby
