Introducing LumENS
At Vaonis, we believe that education is the key to discovery. Observing the universe is fascinating, but understanding what you capture makes it truly meaningful.
Now, as you journey through galaxies and nebulae, real-time knowledge is at your fingertips.
Meet LumENS, your new AI astronomy companion.
A new era of exploration
In 2018, we pioneered the era of smart telescopes, making stargazing effortless and accessible to all. Our mission has always been clear: to bring the wonders of the Universe closer to everyone.
For over eight years, a single button has been your gateway to the stars, capturing galaxies, nebulae, and distant worlds with ease. Now, we take the next step.
With LumENS, we’re not just helping you explore the cosmos. We’re helping you understand it.
Intelligence, seamlessly integrated
LumENS is designed to feel effortless — yet extraordinary.
It works hand in hand with your smart telescope, seamlessly embedded in the Vaonis app, to elevate every moment of your observation.
Whether you’re capturing a galaxy for the first time or revisiting your favorite nebula, LumENS transforms each session into a guided, interactive journey.
With just a few taps, it listens, speaks, and responds — contextualizing the cosmos in real time.
Here’s how your experience unfolds:
Point your Vaonis telescope toward a celestial object. Whether it’s a distant galaxy or a nearby star cluster, your journey begins the moment you initiate your session.
From the app’s Space Center, switch on LumENS. Instantly, your AI companion syncs with your selected object, ready to inform and inspire — in real time.
Interact with LumENS using voice or text. Get real-time answers tailored to what you’re observing, hear immersive audio insights and follow along as the cosmos comes to life.

With LumENS, we're not just pushing the boundaries of astronomy; we're reimagining how people connect with the universe.
This AI companion embodies our mission to inspire wonder and make the cosmos accessible to everyone.

Privacy and transparency first
LumENS is designed to respect your privacy from the ground up. No personal data is stored, and no conversations are tracked — your interactions stay private and session-based. Once your observation ends, everything is erased. It’s astronomy on your terms, without compromise.
While responses are carefully optimized to reflect the object you’re observing, LumENS is still evolving. As with all AI systems, occasional inaccuracies may occur. That’s why we’ve built in a simple feedback feature, allowing you to guide future improvements with just one tap.
Frequently asked questions
Currently, LumENS is only available on iOS via the Singularity app.
Our team is actively working on Android support, but due to the technical challenges of managing both Wi-Fi and mobile data connections simultaneously on Android, additional development and testing are required.

LumENS supports English and French, both for voice and text input, as well as for audio explanations.
More languages may be considered in future updates based on user demand.
Yes. An internet connection is required to use LumENS features while your instrument is connected. On iOS, the app handles this dual-connection seamlessly: Wi-Fi to the telescope + mobile data for LumENS access.
If no internet is available, LumENS features are disabled — except for any previously downloaded audio teasers.
Yes, LumENS works with Plan My Night, including classic, multi-night, and mosaic modes.
However, it is not available for manual targets, since the AI needs a known object context to provide accurate responses.
LumENS is designed to answer astronomical questions about the object you’re currently observing.
