Atlas
Atlas puts the whole sky on your screen and, in the Twin configuration, collects twice the light in every image.
Atlas brings together a mount with Sky Guard, an all-sky camera that lets you choose your targets directly in the live sky, and one or two 80mm imaging modules coupled through the Sky Dock interface. Each imaging module combines the optics and its own color sensor. In the Single configuration, you get a complete instrument from the first night. In the Twin configuration, two imaging modules work on the same target and every image receives twice the light. In both cases the mount is the same, and it is built to grow with you.
Your configuration
Single or Twin, on the same mount.
Both configurations share the same mount, the same Sky Guard experience and the same app. What changes is how much light reaches your image.
Single
Atlas with one 80mm imaging module
An 80 mm apochromatic refractor with a 360 mm focal length at F/4.5, paired with a Sony IMX585 color sensor. It records nebulae, galaxies and star clusters in full color.
A complete instrument from the first night, with Sky Guard and session planning. The mount is ready for a second imaging module: add another 80mm imaging module whenever you decide, and your Atlas moves to the Twin configuration.
Twin
Atlas with two 80mm imaging modules
Two 80mm imaging modules point at the same target and feed a single image, the equivalent of doubling your exposure time.
2×
the light collected, at every moment
F/3.2
equivalent speed, at 360 mm focal length
+41%
signal-to-noise ratio, for cleaner images
Finer detail and fainter extensions come out of the same session, or you reach the same result in half the time: one night instead of two. The field of view stays that of a single 80mm imaging module, and the software stacks both modules automatically, from day one.
In the Twin configuration, both imaging modules always observe the same object. It is designed to deepen a single image, not to capture two different targets at the same time.
Sky Guard, in both configurations
The real sky becomes the interface.
A fisheye camera built into the mount films the entire sky above you, live, day and night. At night, the sky map is overlaid on the real image. You tap an object, Atlas points to it, and the picture starts to build. What you see when you look up and what the instrument captures now share the same screen.
Pointing you can see
Choosing a target does not have to mean searching a catalog. Pick it in the sky you are looking at, and Atlas takes you there.
The whole sky and your target, at once
Dual view shows the Sky Guard feed next to the imaging module feed, so you always know where you are pointing and what is happening around it.
It finds its bearings on its own
Sky Guard automatically detects the horizon, the Sun and the Moon, and initializes the instrument by itself.
Your night, as a time-lapse
While Atlas images your target, Sky Guard can record a time-lapse of the whole sky above you, whenever you ask for one.
Sony IMX676 sensor, 12 MP, 185° fisheye optics. Proprietary Vaonis technology.
The platform
Built to grow, built to travel.
It grows with you
The Sky Dock interface couples each imaging module to the mount in under five seconds. Start with the Single configuration, add a second 80mm imaging module later, and keep everything you already own.
Plan it, then let it run
Prepare your targets ahead of time with Plan My Night in the Gaia app, then let Atlas carry out the plan while you follow the session on your screen.
Ready to travel
Whether you choose the Single or the Twin configuration, Atlas comes with a heavy-duty aluminum tripod and a transport bag that protects the imaging modules, so darker skies stay within reach.

Among the first to observe with it
Pre-orders are part of the first production run of Atlas.
In time for galaxy season
Pre-orders are scheduled to ship in March 2027, as spring brings the galaxies of Leo, Virgo and Ursa Major high into the evening sky.
Covered for the long run
The mount is covered by a 10-year warranty and each imaging module by a 5-year warranty.
From a team that has shipped since 2016
Vaonis has designed smart telescopes in Montpellier, France, since 2016, and its instruments observe the sky in more than 60 countries.
