The Vespera Light Pollution Filter, or CLS (City Light Suppression) filter, reduces the glow of street lighting so nebulae, clusters and galaxies stand out against a darker sky. Designed for the Vespera lens, it is the filter for nights in the city and the suburbs.

Why the CLS filter

Bring back the contrast.

Cuts the urban glow.

It blocks the sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) wavelengths emitted by street lighting, along with part of the natural airglow, while letting the main wavelengths of celestial objects through.

The background sky gets darker and your target gets brighter. It is especially effective on emission nebulae.

An electronic card in the lens ring lets Vespera detect the filter as soon as it is in place.

I've only had the sbope a few days and really only had it outside for half the night, but find the app easy to navigate. My only qualm is that vecause of the smooth sides I find it a bit slippery and cumbersome to move about. Having said that, I suffered some nerve damage and have limited usage of my left arm. Taking the scope with us on a road trip next week to 4 national parks (one a dark sky) Smoky Mountains National Park. Am hoping for a clear night or two. For me a small handle on the oposite side of the telescope would allow a much firmer grip, but that is a minor gripe.

Vespera Light Pollution Filter

I just had my first clear night to do observations with my new Vaonis Vespera 3 using the Vespera light pollution filter with it . I have neighbors with lights on at night and unfotunately light pollution. I think the light pollution filter worked very well and allowed me to get pictures of M13 and M27 very well. I look forward to many more observations.

A must for city or near-city dwellers

Noticeable difference when stray light is present. Glow from street lights greatly reduced. More subs may be needed to compensate for slight reduction in light gathering ability, but well worth the effort when you can't get away to a dark sky.

j'ai reçu ce filtre après avoir acheté le filtre solaire, il ne reste plus qu'à avoir le filtre dual band .. il serait intéressant pour Vaonis de développer plus d'options sur ces smart télescopes afin de diversifier les possibilités comme d'autres filtres, comme un mode équatorial en adaptant singularity etc etc...

El filtro anti polución lumínica Vespera o CLS es un accesorio imprescindible para todos aquellos que realizamos astrofotografía en entornos urbanos o muy cerca de ellos.
Las condiciones climatológicas y del cielo no siempre acompañan nuestra agenda para que podamos disponer del tiempo suficiente y desplazarnos hasta lugares con cielos oscuros. Siendo realistas, la mayoría de la población vive en en ciudades o entornos urbanos donde la polución lumínica está muy presente.
Gracias al filtro CLS podemos olvidarnos prácticamente de este problema y realizar astrofotografía sin salir de la ciudad. Mejora el resultado directo de las observaciones y es aún mas notable si realizamos postprocesado de las mismas.
